This hike starts at Route de Pra da Dzeu, in the heights above the resort of Nendaz. You can park your vehicle in the small unpaved car park.
From there, follow the hiking trail uphill towards Pra da Dzeu. Once you reach this clearing, with its breathtaking panoramic views, follow the trail towards Tracouet. After a fairly steep climb, you will reach Croix de Jean-Pierre, where a small, level path leads you to Balavaux, home to the larch trees.
Your walk continues through the gigantic, centuries-old larches. A specially built footbridge allows you to get up close to the «King of Balavaux», the largest larch tree in Europe.
After this memorable encounter, continue along the trail to the «Le Chalet des Alpes» restaurant in Prarion. Next to the restaurant, a small path leads you to the Saxon irrigation channel (bisse). Follow the channel back to Pra da Dzeu, where you can return to your car.

Useful information
